The above policy taken in January 2006 was renewed this January (2007) after the sales-person contacted me on phone and persisted with his pleas for renewal. I had initially not wanted to renew the policy. He subsequently offered some additional free benefits to induce me to renew it. After that, just to get rid of this nuisance, I obliged to renew the policy.
Today (18th January 2006), I received the renewed policy by courier.
Now I find that the policy premium of Rs.2,855/- taken in 2006 is renewed in 2007 for Rs.5,815/- (charged on my credit card).On contacting their customer care, they were of the opinion that I have increased the coverage and hence the increase in premium. Why would I want to increase my premium when I never intended to renew the policy itself.
I think this is totally unwarranted and I wish to close this policy immediately. This has put me through tremendous mental agony and I expect immediate action taken from TATA AIG to cancel the policy.
This system of renewal of policies over phone calls by over-smart sales people should be stopped immediately. Nobody can be expected to have policy details at their finger tips. If anybody wishes to renew their policy, it should be only done by written consent.

|Action||I will be going to counsumer court, International Consumer Rights Protection Council, Newspapers, News TV channels to highlight this improper method of renewing policies by telephone calls. I have contacts in the press. |
