My husband went to a Stillwater Oklahoma Motel (405 624 0433) on November 8th, 2004. He was approximately 4 hour drive from our home in Texas.
In the Motel, he used his room phone to call me (In Texas) and tell me that he had arrived in Oklahoma and what his room phone number was so I could call him right back. It was approximately a 20 second call. He talked to no operator.
With no information in the room as to what this call involved as to price etc., he called me collect.
When we got the bill it was a $12.62 charge!!!
It was on our phone bill and it was charged by MCI.
I am 56 years old and I have never paid $12.00 for a long distance call for one minute EVER!!!
Especially not 4 hours from where I live!!
I called them and they informed me that this was their normal charge for a operated assisted call.
MCI is a company that thinks they can charge whatever they want and actually get away with it.
I know that this company gets away with charging whatever they feel like and this is an example of the garbage they get away with.
If we dont pay this unjust charge, they will try and ruin our excellent credit.
