I am Joseph George C.G, Software Engineer, Techno park, Trivandrum.

For my Income tax savings, I chose MetSmart, a life Insurance policy from MetLife.
My Policy premium amount was for Rs.1 Lakh per year, which i am supposed to pay for 3 years.
On my death my wife will receive an amount of 25 Lakhs.

On 5th February, I gave the following materials to MetLife, Kottayam, Kerala.
1. Application No.KLK109099350 for my Life Insurance.
2. Cheque No:425323 for Rs.1 Lakh.

They gave me a receipt for the materials handed over.

After few days i had a detailed medical check up on one of their test centers.

On February 21, Rs 1, 00,000.00 was deducted from my account.
(Account No: 968, Federal Bank, North Kalamassery, Kochi).

When asked about the Policy Certificate, they told me that it requires a lot of processing
and to wait for two weeks.

So after two weeks i called the Manager and he told me that i will be receiving it in the coming days. All my colleagues who applied with me for the same policies (in different Branches of Metlife) got their policy Certificates.

I waited for 1 more week and i called again. This time he told me that they had sent it through Courier, but nobody received it at my home (at Kalamassery) and hence it is in the courier office (at Ernakulam). I asked the courier office, but they said that they havenít any.

After that i started to make calls on a daily basis. The manager started to make some stories every time.

Meanwhile they assured me that i will not loose any money and my policy will commence on 21 February 2007 itself. i.e the date on which it was withdrawn from my Account.

My call to Metlife continued for 1 more month. Now the manager is not responding to my calls any more.
On May 22nd i got my Policy Certificate, but the Effective date of the policy is seen as 05 May 2007.

Now i realized that they were using my money for some other purpose.

I made a call to their toll free number. He told me that he would be giving me a complaint number for future reference. But I didnít receive anything so far.

After all this, how can i believe that they will give the amount Rs.25 Lakhs to my wife after my death. I have seen peopleís comments on Metlife denying money claiming lack of paper work.

I lost all my trust in Metlife, which i supposed to be one of the best financial institutions in the world.



Solution of your complaint1. Amount with 18% interest and compensation for mental strain i suffered. 2. I submitted the papers for my Income tax. So if i withdrew the policy, i have to pay Income tax. Note that last finacial year has ended for investments. The tax should be paid by MetLife India Ltd. or 1. Take action against the people who have done fraud. 2. Replace my policy effective date as 21 Feb 2007.  
ActionThis issue would be taken to Consumer court and let the court make a decision.
