I have a prepaid account for Airtel (Rs.3000/- for year) On 28.5.07 I received a sms saying that Rs49/- are debited from my account under the scheme of 2000 free sms. I was surprised because I had not subscribed for the said scheme. I was not even informed before they debited the amout. Immediately I called No.121, customer service and lodged a complaint saying that I had not asked for the scheme and hence my money should be credited back to me. I was given Ref.No.0528142002 and was told by Nitisha that my money would be credited back within 24 hrs. After 24 hrs. on 29.5.07 I contacted 121 again as the money was not credited. One Bhalu came on the line and said their system is down and he cannot check the status of my complaint however, I may call back after one hour so that my complaint status would be intimated to me. I called after one hour and another person named Satish came on line he repeated the same sentence"Our system is down, your money will be credited within 24 hrs. sorry for the inconvenience." On 30th I called again and one Raja came on line and repeated the same sentence, I was furious, I called again to speak to the Senior executive. However, I had to repeat each time my complaint to a new person (Vasant, Sunita, Vikram) before I could reach Sr.Executive Mr.Sheetal Mohite. Sheetal Mohite told me the same excuse but added that I should contact him on next day i.e. on 31st at same time(at around 8.30 p.m.) and he would definetely help. I contacted 121 on 31st at the designated time but could not speak to Mohite because one Krishna told me that he was doing morning shift that day. I repeated my complaint (inspite of giving ref.No.) to Krishna who said system is working but I have to wait for 24 hrs to get my money back. I wanted to speak to some other Sr.Executive so I called again and one Vikram spoke to me Again I had to repeat the entire story and Vikram asked me to hold line. I was holding line for not less than 10 minutes but instead of getting in touch with the senior the call was disconnected. Furious again I called and one Vishnu came on line. I angrily spoke to him and asked him to connect me to his senior but instead he kept me on hold and made some sounds on the phone. Disgusted, I disconnected and called again. This time it was Ali on line who was the first courteous person I came across. He registered my complaint again and gave me another number i.e. 53111925300 and said my money would be credited to my account within 24 hrs. However, on lst June 2007 because the money was not credited I called 121 again and repeated my complaint to Arjun who gave me the same stereotyped reply. Frustrated, I disconnected and called again to ask for their email id so I can write to company about the lousy customer service and for refund of my money. One Suraj came on line though he was courteous he told me incorrect email id. However, he said refund would take much more time than 24 hrs. and I will have to wait and watch. This is rediculous. How promptly they debit the money and how long they take to credit it. I think this is fraud. I have met several people who have similar complaint. No one takes it seriously may be they think it is only 49 rs. or they have no time to followup. Company is taking advantage of this situation and forcing people to accept their schemes. I refuse to be victimised and cheated. THIS IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT CUSTOMER HARASSMENT. THIS IS PLAIN CHEATING. HOW MUCH MONEY THE COMPANY MUST BE MAKING BY COMMITING SUCH SO CALLED MISTAKES? It is not the question of Rs.49 but of ethics and morality. No one has right to take me for granted. I value every paisa that I earn and spend and Airtel cannot rob me of that. I refuse to be cheated.
