I undertook a diagnostic visit to Kaya Skin clinic for Laser hair Removal on 31st Jul 2007 for which I paid Rs. 500. I was recommended Laser Hair Removal for Upper Lip which cost Rs. 7800 for six sessions. They demanded the amount in advance which I paid and they fixed an appointment after 2 weeks. After a week, I was to travel onsite on a long term project assignment so I decided that I would not be able to go through the sessions and went to Kaya Skin Clinic and asked them to refund the advance amount - Rs.7800 for the Laser Hair Removal which I no longer wanted to proceed with. However to my utter dismay, they told me that a refund was not possible. I could buy products worth Rs. 7800 but as per their policy they cannot refund the amount !
I do not understand the logic of this policy as this seems to completely one sided. Firstly, they demand advance payment for services which they have not rendered and then refuse to refund the amount in case a consumer does not want to avail the service or cancel the appointments/sessions.
Also, they do not tell the customer in advance that they have such a policy where once you make advance payments you cannot get refund even if you choose to cancel the appointment later due to any reason.
Hope you will be able to help and set the right precedence in this case as I really think this is an unfair practice for any organization and least of all from a place that calls itself a clinic !
