Subject: Damage of Electrical Wiring Harness.

Dear Sirs,

I had purchased the above mentioned vehicle in the month of November 2005 and have done less than 15,000 Kms till date.

This is to bring to your notice the problems faced by me. It all started with the Head Lights going off at random in the month of August 2007. I took it to the Workshop of M/s MANIPAL MOTORS (at Airport Road, Bangalore ) from whom I had bought the Car. Tthe mechanics checked and did not find anything wrong, they told me it may be a case off loose connection and assured me that the problem will not re-occur. Three days later the problem reoccurred and I again took it back to MANIPAL Motors workshop where the mechanic did some tightening for the fasteners near the Fuse Box and was again told the problem is rectified and will not reoccur.

The very next week on the way back from office to Home all of a sudden I heard a chattering sound from the dashboard on the passenger side and there was lot of smoke coming out. I switched off the blower and the pulled down the glassed of the windows and drove home. The fan would not switch off when I removed the Key and then a Cab Driver helped me in disconnecting the power supply to the Fan after opening the bonnet.

Next Day morning I called MANIPAL Motors to report the problem and they asked me bring the car to their workshop for which I asked for the help of their break down service to pick up the car, since the car would not start.

From there on it was daily session of phone calls , the car was under Extended Warranty but I was told that the damage of Wiring Harness is not covered under Extended Warranty . I spoke to the Bangalore Regional Office of TATA MOTORS who said they cannot help it and I need to pay up for the components and they will get the labour charges waived off as a special case. It took Two Weeks for the car to be repaired.

My queries regarding what went wrong with the Wiring Harness and how the problem could have been prevented have not been answered till now. I did not get any convincing
reply from either MANIPAL Motors or TATA MOTORS Bangalore .

I have strong reasons to believe that itís a case of Manufacturing defect for which I was made to suffer for no reason of mine. (As I mentioned earlier this car has not even driven for 15,000 Kms ). Now I have lost confidence in my car and am avoiding the use of the car for driving Car for long distance because of the fear of the problem reoccurring again.

I would request you to investigate the matter thoroughly and let me know the actual reasons for the occurrence of the problem and why should a customer of a TATA MOTORS be made to pay for what is apparently a manufacturing defect.

Attached please find a copy of the Invoice from MANIPAL Motors as a proof of the components replaced by them.

Its worth mentioning that the persons who dealt with me - Mr. Ugen Bhutia from M/s TATA Motors, Bangalore Office and Mr. Javed of MANIPAL Motors respectively were very cooperative and I take this opportunity to thank them for the help provided
to me.

Solution of your complaintTATA Motors should investigate the reason behind the component failure since there is a rear of this reoccuring and should reimburse the cost incurred.
