Sub: State Bank of India’s looting spree – Justice requested – regarding.
When I opened my savings bank account in Dindigul (T.N.) the minimum balance for cheque facility was Rs.100/- only. Later it was raised to Rs.500/- I had been carefully maintaining this minimum balance. Of late the SBI seems to have revised the minimum balance for cheque facility to Rs.1000/-. Even now in Central Bank the minimum balance for cheque facility is Rs.500/- only. I was under the impression that all Govt. banks follow the same rule. But SBI Main Dindigul had looted Rs.688.55 from my savings bank account for want of minimum balance. In all fairness the bank should have intimated this to me and I would have rectified my lapse. The expenditure incurred towards my account could have been debited to my account. Or if the bank is not satisfied with the operation of the account, the same could have been closed and the proceeds sent to the account holder without robbing him of his hard earned money. Without doing any of these reasonable things the bank had swindled the account holder’s money.
When I sent a representation to the manager, State Bank of India, Main, Dindigul through my brother he refused to accept the representation and acknowledge it . Even a hard core militant responsible for unbearable atrocities has a right to be heard. But the autocratic, high handed Manager, State Bank of India, Main, Dindigul had refused to accept my representation in a dictatorial manner. When I tried to send Rs.5000/- through core Banking from SBI, Kurasia Branch Chirimiri (C.G.) I learnt that my account in SBI, Main Dindigul had been closed without intimation to me. Then I had to give another representation to revive my account. Is it not harassment of the public ? How will such anti public minded officers who have direct dealings with the public, implement the welfare schemes of the government? Kindly ensure that the SBI has a right attitude towards the helpless public.
I operate my account in SBI Main Dindigul for only charity purpose. The cheques issued in favour of Rev. Fr. Head Master, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School , Dindigul will testify to this fact. Kindly instruct the SBI to re-credit the amount of Rs. 688.55 to my savings bank account No.10832679784. Even this amount will go to help a poor student in my old school at Dindigul (T.N.). Only your office can enlighten the State Bank of India administration that they cannot have rules or software against “Natural Justice”. My complaining to the higher ups in SBI administration will be of no use as they would express their helpnessness in the context of the bank rules and their software problem.
Thanking you in anticipation and awaiting your early favourable reply,
