I had purchased a mobile sim from Airtel on 29th April, 2008 by paying Rs. 499/- (Rs.300/- deposit and Rs. 199/- as activation charges). Before payment I was given an option to select the number and I did the same and got a number ending with 00. I was told that the same will get activated within half an hour or max by evening.
When the same was not activated by evening, i got in touch with Airtel Call Center (121) and came to know that it takes 24 hours.
Once the said 24 hours were over, i.e. on 30th April, 2008, I again got in touch with Airtel Call Center and then was told that it takes 24-48 hours.
After some time i again got in touch with them to find that the number allotted to me - the same was written on the Receipt and Customer Enrolment Form - has been allotted to somebody else.
In my view its a fradulent practice by the service provider - you show something else while selling and then once the customer is trapped by paying - the service provider does as he likes.
Please help - I want to go to Consumer Court - I want to Sue Bharti Airtel Limited for this fraud.
