I am having an ICICI Bank VISA Gold Credit Card # 4477XXXXXXXXXX002 since Dec-06 on my name only. I am also having a Saving Bank Account # 625301217645 since Oct-Nov-2002 as single account holder.

There have been a loan of amount INR 18,000/- approved on my above said credit card on 28-Dec-2007. The amount had also been credited to my above said savings account.

I had been travelling to Philippines since 16-May-2007 to 01-Feb-2008. In the meanwhile neither I came to India nor I did contact to ICICI Bank regarding any loan on my credit card by any means of communications. I would like to know how could a loan be applied and approved without customer’s approval and knowledge?

Now I have been slapped with an installment of Principal+Interest+Tax=INR 3181.96/- on my monthly bill statement.

I did not receive any statement in the month of Jan-2008. By the end of Dec-2008 I had Credit balance on my account.

When I made an inquiry, then I was told that I have to pay INR 3375/- on my credit card in my Feb-2008 monthly bill.

I paid the amount. I dropped the cheque on 27-Feb-2008 in ICICI Bank, CMH Rd., Bangalore. This was an outstation cheque and the last payment date was 10-Mar-2008. I received a mail on 4-Mar-2008 from ICICI Bank regarding Payment received on cheque. And then again on 13-Mar-08 Payment received mail on the same cheque. But in the latest bill there have been late payement charges also on my card. I know for outstation cheques I have to pay some charges and I am ready to pay them but not late payment charges as I dropped the cheque well in advance and ICICI bank also had sent me a mail of payment received.

Second thing in the latest statement I have been charged with an amount of INR 561.80 for Overlimit charges. If there has been a loan approved on my card and I am not aware of it how I am supposed to know that?

I have also met the ICICI Bank perosnals in CMH Rd., Bangalore and MG Rd., Bangalore branches but to no avail. Not even a single person in both the branches was able to entertain/guide regarding this issue.

I personally met and spoke to the Branch Manager, MG Rd., Bangalore and she said its not our branch issue and shed off the responsibility from her shoulders. There was nobody from bank side to sign the document as ICICI bank representative as a receipt of the notice which I took there, as I am lodging a complaint/case under RBI and as well as Consumer Forum.

All the time I was advised to mail or call to customer support. The experiences with them were also not very pleasant as everytime I had to wait for 15-20 minutes on call and receiving the same replies from your executives as “Sir, Please be on hold. I will transfer your call to the concerned department.”

Could you please make me clear which is the concerned department/branch or any person for these Credit card related issues.

After lot of discussion a complaint has been lodged to Customer Support Officer and I was assured to revert back the charges. The complaint number is SR60934400.

But this issue does not end here.

I need clarification how a loan can be approved on account without the application and approval of customer?

I am also working in a Banking and Financial Solutions Institution and I know methodology of banking. I have lost all my trust in ICICI Bank and going to warn all my friends and colleagues against these kind of matters in ICICI Bank. This way a customer can not be harassed.

 

Solution of your complaintAll charges need to be reverted back and I need a clean Cedit Card account statement. 
ActionI will not pay a single amount till the dispute is resolved.
