Dear My Woes,

My complaint is in two parts.

A: I must highlight a racket that seems to be running to dupe clients like us who hold citi bank credit cards wherein they issue mediclaim insurance policies over the phone without any verification and false assurances. I am attaching below the correspondence with these people that contains my experience along with all details. No action has been taken.

B: Not only that, after the experience of being taken for a ride (as mentioned in A above, they have the cheek to automatically renew the policy without my permission (neither verbal or written) and try to charge me for a service that i dont want of which they are aware because of my complaint.

This very serious as they seem to be just raking in money over the telephone through false promises and concealing terms not just once but on recurring basis. Kindly read my correspondence below:

MEDICLAIM / INSURANCE

Dear Sir,

This is with reference to a medi claim policy / medical insurance taken from you with your affiliation/partnership with TTK Healthcare Services and Citi Bank.

The details are as under:

Name of holder- Charanjit Vohra

This policy has been taken for my brother in Chandigarh through my Citi Bank credit card. At the time of giving this policy, I was not at all interested in taking the same. However, with persistent calls from the Chennai office, I took this policy for my brother (also an ex-serviceman like me and a war veteran) ONLY when told that this card would be valid for all ailments as long as it required hospital admission. Upon repeated queries, I was re-assured that this is so and there is no ‘incubation’ period or waiting time before eligibility for any category of ailment.

A few weeks back, my brother required minor eye surgery, and I immediately started the process of claim with all documents procured from the hospital concerned. I was shocked when I was informed by the call centre that this eye surgery is not eligible for claim as one needed to be a policy holder for 3 years! Now, this is absolutely strange as no such conditions were told even after my repeated queries and had it been so I would not have taken this policy (In any case, I was not interested as there was no need for it). As an ex-serviceman with meagre resources, this is just not fair – in fact it amounts to unfair misleading and even cheating.

In view of the above, I request your urgent intervention in the matter and give suitable directions for passing of the claim. I have, therefore, kept the documents with me and will submit the same after I receive your directions in the matter. I sincerely hope you will treat this matter urgently as it is rather serious amounting to unfair luring of unsuspecting persons, that too ex-servicemen who certainly do not deserve this.

Solution of your complaint(a) give refund to me (b) they be warned of consequences of such practice wherein they are duping unsuspecting people - authorities be informed of this act (c) public be warned of such practices, so that they are not conned 
Actionwill take it up at higher levels and / or go press and consumer forum
