I am a software Engineer, I consume whisky or beer once or twice a week and in this particular wine shop in Kottivakkam they are selling a lot of duplicate and adulterated whisky. They even cheat you on the change they give you as there is no price list on the shop and they charges you Rs. 68 for a 175ml of McDowells whisky when the label says only Rs.64. If you argue with them about the price, the shopkeepers tell you that it is a old label and the prices have gone up.
I have quite often been cheated by these men while giving us change after your purchase, if you are a little careless then he will make Rs.10 - Rs.50 based on your purchase. And everytime you check the money and ask him he would say sorry an return the money he had cheated and will give you a lame excuse that he was not sure of the pricing or he didnt count the money properly.
I am sure a lot of people are getting cheated this way and unfortunately we cannot prove this in anyway.
Solution of your complaint
All wine shop should have Government rate list and each and every customer should be given a bill for his purchase. When the Government takes STT, VAT and other stuff. Why are the government wine shops not giving us a bill of purchase? And if somebody working in the wine shop had cheated they should immediately dismiss them from service.
I would try my best to contact some magazines and create an awareness to the people.
