HALTOM CITY TX 76117 RE: Our Move
A+ Able Bodied Movers Cheryl and Lauren First, I would like to say that this was absolutely the worst move and experience we have EVER had! When I first contacted your office, I explained the type of items I have and how delicate the items are and that I am an antique dealer and that I have lots of unique and valuable items. Lots of glass and items that cannot be replaced. I was told that care would be taken with our items. Your company and another company were both bidding for our business. I decided to go with your company based on speaking with you and gaining trust based on our conversation and that customer satisfaction is important to you. The three movers arrived around 8:30 a.m. March 30, 2002.
I offered to pay for the move upfront; I see that as good business. I did and they were to get started. The three seemed to get along well- I noticed this because one of the movers was German and the other two liked making fun of him and teasing him. He went to the restroom a lot…about every hour. The three of them mainly wanted to talk with my husband and I, so we left the area so they could work. Since it looked like rain, I asked the movers if they could take their shoes off at the new house because I had just spent $600.00 getting the carpet cleaned and stretched. They said they didn't think so, but for me to call the office. I spoke to Charles and he advised me that it would be a liability and that I should go to Home Depot and pickup some drop cloths. I advised the three movers that I was going to Home Depot for the drop cloths and that I would be back in a few minutes. My daughter and I left.
While in line at Home Depot, I receive a call from my husband stating that the movers were meeting me at Home Depot. I asked him why and he said he didn't know. We waiting in the parking lot for a while…20 minutes or so. I decided to change positions in the parking lot and looked up the street and noticed a large red trailer and truck in the median. I decided to drive that way and sure enough there was the moving truck and the trailer leaning to the side, trees and bushes plowed down, traffic backed up and the trailer was stuck in the dirt. I stopped and the police officer asked if I was the customer and I responded yes, and he asked me to park in the parking lot. I did for about 45 minutes. Then we waited for a two truck. I saw one of the movers walking from McDonalds. Then, we moved to another parking lot and waited for the owner of the moving company to arrive. He showed up hollering and cussing at the movers. We then moved to the gas station across the street. The owner then told me that they wanted to complete my move today and would do so and if I could have them to follow me on a back road since something on the moving truck was now invalid and the driver could get a ticket and of course the damage to the vehicle. I said that I knew of a road with less traffic and it would be easier for them to follow. So, the movers followed us to the new home. When we arrived, they were fussing about the cost, the head driver not making any money, etc. and so the started unloading slowly. The stuck most of the items in the garage. I asked; ''Don't you want to take everything in the house?'' They said no, that they would do it later.
So, they followed us back to the old house. It was raining more by this time. I went back inside to see what else they needed to move. Finally, they loaded my poor refrigerator ON ITS SIDE!!! I asked them if that would be okay and they said that it was the only way it would fit and that they did not want to or had time to make another trip over here. He commented again saying he had not made any money today on this move. Also, that paying the tow truck driver and paying his helpers that he is really losing money. He said the refrigerator would be fine. Then we left to go to the new house. When we got there, he had lots of problems parking. My new neighbor across the street came running outside because he was about to plow into her yard…their first impressions of us was not great! He finally parked and we all get out of our vehicles. The German one had to go to the bathroom first. They were all complaining and fussing about something. I went inside to make sure all the drop cloths and cardboard was on the carpet to protect it. I went back into the garage and noticed that they had started to unload. The refrigerator was leaking so I told them to put it in the garage. I noticed it was bent up and dented on front and the handles and etc. When they took my big screen television out, they sat it to the side of the driveway. I noticed it had water on it…dripping. I'm watching all of this shocked!!! Then, it started pouring and there was furniture outside as well.
They started bringing things into the garage and some items in the house, wet. Later, I went upstairs and noticed that my daughter's furniture was in her room but not assembled as well as our bedroom furniture and other components and they were wet. My daughter's mattresses were torn. I asked my husband about this later and he stated that he saw one the movers dragging them…the Hispanic one. It's dirty too. Meanwhile, I was talking to my parents and my sister…they had arrived at the new house while the movers were trying to park. We were upstairs in the house. Then, my daughter came upstairs to inform me that the movers had left. They hadn't said anything!!! I walked down stairs; my garage was wide-open, back door wide-open, stuff getting wetter because items were still in the driveway and not completely in the garage. I called your office and spoke with Cheryl about the move. I was so angry and hurt! I cried later while talking to my husband and I am not the crying type! This was supposed to be a very happy occasion for us. This was my husband and me first house together…our dream home. This was totally, totally a horrible experience. The movers were extremely unprofessional.
