door spring on door recently replaced, had to sigh form by installer--dilfferent company--that opener was improperly installed. Got out our Sears manual and he was right, For the unit to operate properly, there is to be 1 1/2 inch between top of guide rail and bottom of door.
We have 7 1/2 " !! This meams after an obstruction is felt it travels an addilitlonal 6 " which could be dangerous to a child etc. Also, operating button is to be 5 1/2 ft above floor--but is 4 ft.
They wanted me to call installer and ask him to handle it--I paid Sears and they hired him, so I told him they should call. They then said there was a 1 yr guarantee on the installation.
I told them the unit functions, but Sears installed it improperly and not according to legal rules and if someone were hurt, I believe it would really be Sears Fault. Letter was sent to Sears on 8-019-06 and no answer. CC went to Atty.Genl, State of MO
Cant believe that since no injury, etc--all they have to do is lower rail, they wouldnt do that--seems to be common sense thing to do--they will lose more in bad advg than the $75 or so spent to correct their error ! We didnt get what we paid for !
|Solution of your complaint||Seems obvious to me that they should repair it--I cant believe they wouldnt accept the easy way to just correct their wrong! |
|Action||May have to go to court--if so, will add cost for effort. Also, his door closed on my raised trunk door a few years ago--I now reallize the door did more damage than it should have--dont remember exact cost--didnt know how sensiltilve door should be! As of now, if ccorrected, would leave it at that |
